We’re lucky enough to host our Mid City neighbor, Gambit’s, most fun New Orleans event each year: The Emerging Chef’s Challenge! This year was no exception; from yummy oysters from sponsor The Oyster Bed to tasting (and voting on) the delicious morsels provided by the chefs. This event showcases up-and-coming chefs who present their specialties which are then voted on by the public.
This year’s winner is from yet another Mid City neighbor, Brown Butter! Chef Dayne Womax’s winning dish featured beed short ribs. vinegar braised and glazed, stone ground grits, boiled peanut salad, and crispy onions. Womac is the co-owner and chef of Brown Butter Souther Kitchen and Bar at 321 N. Carrollton Avenue.
